    Hello Could you tell me how to place the thread under the presser? I can't get it to work.

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490 5 днів тому

      Hello, and thank you for writing! Because this is a chain stitch machine, it shouldn't be necessary to have the thread under the presser foot to start sewing. Just make sure there is at least 6 inches of thread pulled through the needle before cranking the first stitch and it should work. If you can give me a little more information about how yours isn't sewing, I may be able to help.

    It seems basil is one of the easiest cuttings to root. I’ve been attempting to root parsley cuttings in water and in “soil” -both flat leaf and curled-but no luck so far. I’d love to hear from somebody that’s had success rooting parsley cuttings whatever the method 👍

    Is there a parts list anywhere online for these machines? I'd love to see how everything came together (and maybe how hard it would be to modify cheap parts or make parts to make my own machine, because i don't see anyone selling these and it sounds fun lol)

      A few manuals for some antique sewing machines come with parts lists, but those are very few and far between. Bay often carries sets of parts for a wide range of machine es and many people offer non-working machines for parts. While I have made a few simple replacement parts, unless you have a complete machine shop and are a machinist, doing so is more pain than it's worth. What were you thinking of making, a chai stitcher? If so, may I recommend you look into cheap toy sewing machines? There are several types that use more simply shaped parts that would be much easier to make than full sized machines. They could be scaled up to whatever size interested you. Good luck!

      If you want to make a sewing machine from scratch, I recommend something along the lines of this Muller: ua-cam.com/video/uSph4UDUNzQ/v-deo.html It has no gears and could be made from all flat stock. You could even make it out of wood!

    Wow, what spectacular machines and restoration, marvelous!! A treat for the eyes. Thank you for saving so many of them. They are a splendid collection. Thank you for the in-depth tutorial on scanning and cutting these stencils. Looks like this machine is a Brothers Scan Cut priced at $300. Never knew this existed, such a great machine for stenciling and decals! The way you explained the sizing of the design for an accurate smaller print, is the same as taking a large format photo on a Hasselblad, and reducing it to a 35 mm print size. All the details are sharper and more vivid. Very clever! This is a masterclass stenciling video, many thanks! Subscribed. fyi - There is something wrong with your audio which is making lip smacking noises in the background. Use a shirt microphone pinned to your collar or one with a 'sock' on it to muffle ambient sounds around. Audio should be clear not speckled with static dust.

    When I was a youth leader for my church's youth group I had a group of boys who were all athletes ... except one. The poor kid, he grew up mostly without his father around and by age 12-13 had never learned to throw or catch anything or even ride a bike. He wouldn't play catch with anyone because he was both embarrassed by his ineptitude and afraid of being hurt by whatever the object was. One spring I gave him an Aeribie Superdisc, which I regard as the best "frisbee" money can buy because it's easy to throw, easy to catch, and softer to the touch. Over the summer he threw that Aerobie Superdisc back and forth with his little brother and became decent enough at throwing it that he wasn't shy about playing catch with our group of junior varsity athletes. Aerobie also makes a really good coffee press.

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490 14 днів тому

      Blistering usually means that not only has the paint been attacked, the paint's bond to whatever it was sprayed on has almost certainly also been compromised. I hate to say this, but the safest course of action would be to completely remove all the paint and start over. Sanding down the blisters might smooth things out for a repaint and reclearcoat, but at some time in the future the original paint might start peeling off. Sorry.

    My wife and I both have a pair of these. Ours are now well over ten years old. They have been on numerous trips with us as we travel six to eight months a year. They have been used in freezing cold, hot tropics dry deserts and rain forests. And when I say used, I mean USED a lot. They have never missed a beat. They have been borderline abused, they have been dropped, they have been immersed in water and survived dust storms. Most of the problems pointed out have never been a problem for us. Yes, they are scratched up, but considering the life they have led, that’s to be expected. The rubber exterior is still the same as the day we bought them, and yes they have been exposed to deet. The diopter adjustment holds tight ( I think who ever had a problem with them had a user error moment. Eye relief is more than adequate. Was he adjusting the eye shields? They screw in and out. Both of us are eyeglass wearers. Not only do they preform well, the optics are among the best, and we have used or own several high end optics so we know the difference. I have optics that cost three times as much, and I’m not going to say they are better, but they absolutely hold their own. In summery, these are one of the best purchases I’ve made in my life. Every time I use them, I’m reminded how great they are. Perfect? No. I absolutely hate the rear lens cover. Front one is useless to. I put UV haze filters on the front of mine, and then use lens caps they are one of the few binoculars that are threaded for filters (52 mm). Battery life while excellent in general is poor in cold climates (like all electronics). Use only disposable lithium batteries in them. I have no idea how long batteries last as I play it safe and change them every year ( so probably 75 hours or more) except half or third of that in cold weather).

    Real craftsmanship, painstaking and so rare to see. Like hand engraving. Very nice. I wonder ... what if you applied a band of gold foil to the machine then stuck a larger decal over it covering up the gold in reverse. So the letters would be hollow and gold shine thru, and the rest of the gold would be masked off with a black decal further opaqued by a pen or such. Now the lines would be crisp with less effort, no? Tricky business. There is no shortcut for craftsmanship.

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490 Місяць тому

      That's an interesting idea: instead of applying the gold to the back of the decal, apply it directly to the machine before the decal. One big advantage would be that over time, the decal shrinks exposing the gold at the edge of the decal. With your technique, the black decal could be cut large enough so that when it shrinks, it's covers the gold under it. Great idea! I'll give it a try. Thank you!

    • @wayneschmidt490
      @wayneschmidt490 Місяць тому
